SUMMIT
For information regarding our summits, please contact:
  • Chief Strategy Officer: Jesus Gonzalez
  • Summit Director: Daniel Vogel

SELA will hold two global summits annually. These summits will bring together entrepreneurial students from around the world for a week-long series of events focusing on future business opportunities in emerging Latin American markets. The first summit will take place at Stanford University on April 2007, and the second will be hosted by a Latin American chapter in the fall of 2007.

After every summit in Latin America, our chapters in Latin America will submit their bids to host next year's summit. The purpose of these summits is to bring together entrepreneurial students from all across the world together in a week-long discussion about the future of entrepreneurial opportunities in the emerging economies of Latin America.

To accomplish our mission, we will provide students with specific knowledge about the historical roots of the means and methods that developed Silicon Valley into the powerhouse it is today.

Through guest lecturers and company visits, SELA delegates will explore different perspectives from various industries about what is needed to be successful. Following the fervor of the dot-com hype, we hope to provide insight into the businesses that have weathered the storm of a weak economy. Within that structure, we also introduce business practices that have enabled companies to not only be successful, but successful at conducting business worldwide.

After all this exposure to the trends in business, SELA delegates are encouraged to explore their own ideas. To better prepare delegates for their own ventures, we will expose students to the infrastructure available to provide services, such as venture capitalists, consultants, and lawyers.

Integrating the new knowledge, leaders from SELA organizations around the world will present a synopsis of the prevailing trends in their own national economy. The exchange of ideas and business practices is essential to the SELA mission.

The Summit fosters friendships among delegates from various schools and nations. Teambuilding activities are implemented throughout the week, and delegates have the opportunity to work with a variety of people from diverse backgrounds. By bringing together students and allowing them to interact in an environment that encourages the entrepreneurial spirit, SELA hopes to nurture a valuable human infrastructure from which delegates will draw their inspiration.

Unlike larger conferences and all-encompassing organizations, SELA builds a unique global community by creating lasting friendships that are formed throughout the intense, yet rewarding experiences at the Summit.
